The possible changes in the management plan of the Pirin National Park are the reasons why the Municipality of Razlog decides to recover the work on a preliminary design related to the building of a new ski centre amounting to BGN 240 million, tourist media report.
This project envisages the building of the ‘’Kulinoto’’ Ski Centre in the homonymous area located in the northern parts of the Pirin Mountains. The construction of 20-kilometer long ski zone with lifts and tow-lifts as well as a ski run with a total length of 58,5 km.
Krasimir Gerchev, the Mayor of the Municipality of Razlog told the media: ‘’We would love to combine the winter tourism with the golf tourism and our plan is to use not more than 8 per cent of the area of the Pirin National Park.’’ In his opinion, the tourism development would contribute to the decrease of the unemployment, to the economic progress, to the demographic growth and it would guarantee that young people would rather choose to stay at their home towns or villages.
