Simitli accentuates on extreme sports to attract tourists

The Municipality of Simitli is now working on a project that aims at alternative tourism development in the region. The project named ‘’Simitli – the center of the extreme sports’’ will take part in the new funding period, tourist media report.
88 % of the adults support the idea that the town turns into a center for extreme sports – rafting along the Struma River in the Kresna Gorge and mountain climbing in the area of Komatinski Rocks. The mountain biking, motor and ATB riding will be concentrated close to the villages of Brezhani, Rakitna, Senokos, Mechkul and Polena.
The municipal administration comments on the fact that serious investment in needed to support the rafting ways along the Struma River. The Kresna Gorge is a true natural treasure and the possibilities for practicing sport like this presuppose successful tourism development, local citizens reckon.
