The ski resort of Borovets - host of European Cup Alpine Skiing rounds, Men, 2014

Again, during the new winter season, the ski resort of Borovets will be on the spotlight of the world media! On the 15-th and 16-th of February, European Cup of skiing 2014 (Men) will take place on the ski trail of Popangelov. The world’s best Alpine dwellers will gather for their last training before the 22-nd Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. The world’s best skiers, who participate in the second-rank races organized in FIS, are expected to come at the starts in the Bulgarian ski resort of Borovets.
Borovets is one of Bulgaria’s most popular and attractive winter resorts, also known as Chamkoria. It is the oldest Bulgarian ski resorts that disposes of a number of hotels, restaurants, ski runs and lifts of the Rila Mountain. The resort of Borovets was a host of the World Cup Alpine Skiing Rounds (in 1981 and 1984) and the Biathlon track is one of the best and the most popular worldwide. The winter resort is situated at an altitude of 1350 meters and offers a rich variety of winter sports.

On the 14th of December (Saturday) is the official opening of the new winter season 2014 in Borovets. The resort will then welcome its guests with a varied programme named ‘’Fire and Ice’’ including a carnival procession, ice carving, master free-ride demonstrations in the Borosport Promo-Snow Park, free ski lessons and equipment for children in Borokids Park, attractive children’s animation, games with the public and prizes, fire spectacle, snow bar with mulled wine and tea. The programme will be round off with a torch show made by the ski instructors and festive fireworks.

Just a day before the students’ feast, on the 7th of December 2013, the new winter resort will be opened officially in the ski resort of Pamporovo. The opening will take place in the ski center of Studenets, where all the skiers and guests will see the new winter season in. All the ski lifts will be free on the opening day!
